Approximately 1,500 students, teachers, and non-teaching staff from various schools in the municipality of Odemira will participate in the School Days, promoted by the Municipality as part of the ODETE – Odemira Educational Territory program, between March 23rd and 28th. Throughout the week, children and young people, from preschool to secondary and vocational education, will be challenged to participate in cultural, sporting, and experimental activities, games, and workshops in various locations in the town of Odemira and in the parishes of Boavista dos Pinheiros and Longueira/Almograve.
The first day of the Days will be dedicated to students in the 3rd cycle and secondary education, with the Youth Municipal Assembly, held as part of an extraordinary meeting of the Odemira Municipal Assembly, where they can ask questions and present recommendations to the municipal deputies. Throughout the week, these students will also participate in various initiatives, such as themed clubs, sports activities, exhibitions of student work and presentations of youth-related projects, as well as events commemorating the 50th anniversary of the Municipal Government.
Elementary school students will also have their own space to voice their opinions through the Children’s Assembly, which will allow them to present and debate ideas on topics they consider priorities for their school and community. This initiative aims to encourage popular participation and the involvement of children in collective life, promoting dialogue with municipal managers and reinforcing awareness of rights and responsibilities.
Among activities related to environmental education, sports, arts, science, and media literacy, the program of the Jornadas also includes moments of encounter and sharing among educators, teaching and non-teaching staff, valuing the networking of the municipality’s educational community.
As a member of the Portuguese Territorial Network of Educating Cities, the Municipality of Odemira reaffirms, through the organization of the School Days, its commitment to quality, inclusive and participatory education, promoting learning experiences that reinforce cultural identity and a sense of belonging to the municipality.
