The Municipality of Odemira reaffirmed its commitment to culture by granting €914,647.86 to cultural agents and projects within the framework of the Odemira Criativa program – Municipal Program for Support of Culture and Art. The signing ceremony of the protocols took place on March 10th at the Camacho Costa Cinema-Theatre, with the presence of Mayor Hélder Guerreiro.
In total, 79 applications were selected across the program’s various measures, structured around three main axes: Cultural and Creative Industries, Cultural Partnerships, and Artistic Residencies.
Mayor Hélder Guerreiro stated, “This program has been one of the engines of development and transformation in our municipality. Odemira must strengthen itself as a space of opportunity and future, considering the new world in which we live. Culture and our cultural agents are the expression of this opportunity, allowing us to continue building a more just, equitable, and prosperous society.”
In the field of Cultural and Creative Industries, 45 applications were approved, including 20 collective projects, with a total value of €132,391.20, and 11 individual projects, totaling €46,937.52 in support for creation. Support for the activities of cultural entities represents an investment of R$ 80,535.00. Also within this area, the Impulso Jovem (Youth Impulse) program is open for applications until April, encouraging the participation of emerging creators and the development of new projects. The Apoio Pontual (One-Off Support) program is expected to open for applications soon.
In the Cultural Partnerships area, which includes annual and multi-year projects, the municipality approved 30 applications, with a total investment of R$ 628,384.14. Of this amount, 15 partnerships were approved in 2025 and will be implemented throughout 2026, with R$ 130,308.70 still reserved for implementation in 2027.
The Artistic Residencies axis includes 4 creation grants, with a total value of €26,400.00, intended to support artists in research and creative experimentation processes in Odemira.
With this investment, the Municipality of Odemira reinforces its commitment to the strategy defined in the Municipal Culture Plan 2030, which assumes culture and creativity as pillars of development, attractiveness and identity of the municipality, promoting opportunities for artists and associations and consolidating an active and collaborative cultural network in the territory.
