Odemira promotes mothers’ participation in school life.

March 18th, 2026

The Municipality of Odemira is promoting the “Growing Mothers” activity, an initiative that encourages the active participation of mothers and guardians in the school life of their children. Created as a space for interaction and mutual learning, it aims to strengthen the connection between school, families, and the educational community, contributing to the well-being, social inclusion, and academic success of children and young people in the municipality.

The project began in February at the São Teotónio School Group, encompassing preschool children and students in the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd cycles of basic education. The initiative will continue in the coming school years and will be progressively extended to all school clusters in the municipality by 2029.

Funded through the Local Social Development Contract (CLDS), “O Growing Mães” is part of the Social Development Plan and the OdeTE Program – Odemira Educational Territory, responding to challenges identified in the territory and contributing to mitigating inequalities and strengthening educational and social cohesion.

This initiative demonstrates the commitment of the Municipality of Odemira to an education that prioritizes inclusion, participation, and close relationships with families, recognizing collaboration between schools, the community, and local entities as a pillar for a more cohesive and sustainable territory.
